Warrenpoint Golf Club Senior Cup Team to represent Ireland in European Men’s Club Trophy
The Warrenpoint Golf Club Senior Cup Team will represent Ireland in the prestigious European Men’s Club Trophy in Bordeaux, France, from 20–24 October 2026, following their outstanding success in winning the All-Ireland Senior Cup title earlier this year.
WARRENPOINT Golf Club is preparing to take its place on the European stage this October as its Senior Cup Team travels to Bordeaux, France, to represent both the Club and Ireland in the prestigious European Men’s Club Trophy.
The competition, which runs from 20–24 October 2026, will see 23 teams from across Europe compete for one of the most coveted titles in European amateur club golf.
The achievement marks another significant milestone in the history of Warrenpoint Golf Club, following the team’s outstanding success in winning the All-Ireland Senior Cup title earlier this year. Their victory secured the opportunity to represent Ireland against some of the finest club teams in Europe.
This is not unfamiliar territory for Warrenpoint, which has represented Ireland in the competition on two previous occasions. The Club came agonisingly close to lifting the trophy in 1980, finishing in second place and establishing a proud tradition of competing at the highest level of European club golf.
Established in 1975, the European Men’s Club Trophy has a distinguished history, and no Irish team have claimed the title to date. Warrenpoint will now have the opportunity to make history by becoming the third Irish club to win the prestigious trophy.
The team will carry the hopes of Warrenpoint Golf Club and the wider Irish golfing community including Golf Ireland, as they take on this exciting European challenge. Their qualification is a testament to the players’ dedication, commitment and ability, as well as the strength of the Club’s golfing tradition. (These young gentlemen have full time jobs, wives/girlfriends and some have children)
Representing Ireland on the European stage is an exceptional honour, and the entire Warrenpoint Golf Club membership is immensely proud of the team’s achievements to date. The players will be determined to build on their success and bring the coveted trophy back to Ireland.
Everyone at Warrenpoint Golf Club wishes the team every success in Bordeaux as they compete for European glory and the chance to write another memorable chapter in the Club’s history.
