WARD McGimpsey, 54, of Stewarts Crescent, Newry, was given 20 weeks to pay the £150 fine and £15 offender levy.

WARD McGimpsey has been handed a further two-month driving ban and fined £150 after appearing in court in connection with two separate sets of motoring offences.

McGimpsey, 54, of Stewarts Crescent, Newry, appeared by video before District Judge Natasha Fitzsimons at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry Courthouse, on November 5.

The first case related to offences alleged to have been committed on November 6, 2025, in Banbridge. McGimpsey was charged with driving while disqualified and using a Renault Captur on Newry Street without insurance.

A second case concerned alleged offences on November 23, 2025, in the Rathfriland and Kilcoo areas. These included driving while disqualified and without insurance, permitting another person, Darren McGimpsey, to drive without a valid licence and insurance, and withholding information when obtaining an insurance certificate.

The court heard that McGimpsey had received a 16-month driving disqualification in January 2026 for a speeding offence. Defence counsel said he was single, unemployed and had struggled with alcohol in the past.

District Judge Fitzsimons imposed a further two-month driving disqualification, starting on November 5, along with a £150 fine and a £15 offender levy. He was given 20 weeks to pay.
