Kolyo Minev, 22, of Banbrook Hill, Armagh, was fined £250 and given 16 weeks to pay the offender levy after being found guilty of driving without due care and attention on the A1 near Loughbrickland.

KOLYO Minev has been disqualified from driving for two weeks and fined £250 after being found guilty of driving without due care and attention on the A1 near Loughbrickland.

Minev, 22, of Banbrook Hill, Armagh, appeared before District Judge Natasha Fitzsimons at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry Courthouse, on November 5.

The court heard that the incident happened on June 21, 2026, at around 8.40pm, when Minev was driving on the A1 near Loughbrickland.

It was alleged that he drove close behind another vehicle, causing its driver to move into the inside lane. Minev then continued driving close to the vehicle and braking before accelerating away rapidly.

Defence counsel told the court that Minev, a Bulgarian national, had nine penalty points on his licence and that losing his ability to drive would have a serious impact on his employment. The court heard his employer regarded him highly as a valued member of staff.

Judge Fitzsimons noted that three points were due to come off his licence shortly and said he was being given only one opportunity in the circumstances.

She imposed a two-week driving disqualification, a £250 fine and a £15 offender levy. Minev was given 16 weeks to pay.
