The club's boxers have delivered outstanding performances across several competitions, with Calum Binks crowned champion at the County Antrim Championships and Luke Morgan winning the Antrim 3s title.

RATHFRILAND Boxing Club has enjoyed a sensational start to the new season, with its boxers delivering outstanding performances across several competitions and bringing home a host of medals.

In October, the club entered three boxers into the Antrim 3s, with Luke Morgan leading the way by being crowned champion following an impressive display in his final against a strong opponent from St Paul’s Boxing Club, Belfast.

Teagan Burns also made a fantastic impression in her first competitive bout, narrowly missing out on becoming champion after a closely contested final that ended in a 3–2 split decision. Meanwhile, Oran Sands made his competitive debut and narrowly missed out on a place in the final. Both Teagan and Oran showed great promise, and there is little doubt that they will be back challenging for finals in the near future.

The success continued at the Boy and Girl County Antrim Championships, where Calum Binks produced an excellent performance to secure his place in the final after defeating a strong opponent from Ardoyne Boxing Club, Belfast. He then faced the talented Jude McG Laughlin from Antrim Boxing Club in a highly anticipated final, where Calum was crowned champion.

This victory marks another important achievement for Calum, who will now travel to England in November to represent the club at the British Championships. Everyone at Rathfriland will be wishing him the very best as he takes on this exciting challenge.

With champions crowned, new talent emerging and more major competitions ahead, the season is already shaping up to be a memorable one for Rathfriland Boxing Club.

Four Golds and Two Silvers for Rathfriland at Peter O’Donnell Box Cup

Rathfriland Boxing Club enjoyed another hugely successful outing at the Peter O’Donnell Box Cup in Clonmany, Donegal, returning home with an impressive four gold medals and two silver medals.

The club entered six talented boxers into the competition: Calum Binks, Elana Sheppard, Logan Crumie, Josh Rooney, Patrick Bradley and Jack McGeogh. All six boxers represented the club with pride, producing determined performances and demonstrating the hard work being put in at training.

Calum Binks continued his excellent run of form by once again being crowned champion. He was joined on the top step of the podium by Logan Crumie, Patrick Bradley and Josh Rooney, who also claimed gold medals after outstanding displays in their respective competitions.

There was further success for Jack McGeogh and Elana Sheppard, who both secured silver medals following very close contests. Although they narrowly missed out on gold, their performances were a credit to themselves and the club.

The results highlight the strength and depth of talent developing at Rathfriland Boxing Club, with all six competitors returning from Donegal with medals and valuable experience.

Attention now turns to the County Antrim Halloween Box Cup, where Logan Crumie and Calum Binks will be hoping to continue their impressive form and add further silverware to the club’s growing collection.

With champions emerging across multiple competitions and more challenges on the horizon, Rathfriland Boxing Club is certainly making its mark this season. The future looks bright for the club and its boxers as they continue to build on this fantastic start.
