Rathfriland man accused of harassment and domestic abuse

Rathfriland man has appeared in court charged with harassment and a domestic abuse offence.
DENIS Doyle, 38, of Iveagh Crescent, Rathfriland, appeared before District Judge Natasha Fitzsimons at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry Courthouse, charged with harassment and a domestic abuse offence.
Doyle is accused of pursuing a course of conduct amounting to harassment and engaging in abusive behaviour towards a woman to whom he was personally connected. The alleged offences took place between August 3 and September 18 this year.
The court heard the charges against Doyle, who confirmed his name and date of birth and said he understood the allegations.
The case was adjourned until November 12 for a direct response and an update on a decision.
Doyle was released on his own bail of £300, subject to conditions including having no contact with the complainant by any means, including social media. He is also prohibited from entering the Greater Belfast area, defined by the 40mph speed-limit boundary, except for consultations with his solicitor.
Legal aid was granted after the court was told Doyle was in receipt of Universal Credit.
