Down GAA Supporters Club raise £15,000 in a memorable year
The year began with the Supporters’ club AGM where we presented our senior player of the year Odhran Murdock with his award.
We began the year with a float of £120, carried over from 2025. There was a significant increase in membership this year, with a final count of just under 100 members, we hope to push this out again this season. The majority of members signed up through the Down GAA app. We will look to build on this in 2027 by promoting our digital channels.
Our fundraising got off to a successful start with our first Last Man Standing competition for the National League. With 176 entrants paying a £10 entry fee, we made £1,460 after the £300 prize for the winner was paid out. We plan to run this competition again in 2027.
In total, we had 23 buses on the road in 2026 and ran a raffle on each bus. The highlight was the Tailteann Cup Final raffles, with a signed 1994 Down jersey as the main prize on each bus. I would like to thank all the local businesses who donated vouchers throughout the year, as well as the many regular travellers who donated prizes for our raffles. We ran four successful overnight trips in 2026: three in the National League to Limerick, Wexford and Sligo, and one in the Ulster Championship to Donegal.
Overall, it was another very successful year for the Official Down Supporters Club, with a total profit of £15,205.56, which will be contributed towards the 2027 training fund. A sincere thank you to everyone who travelled with us, supported our fundraising activities, donated prizes and helped make 2026 such a successful year for the club!
